Masters Rugby League arrived in England in 2008 and Siddal were one of the first clubs to establish a Masters team.

Masters is a social form of Rugby League for those over 35 years of age and has modified rules to allow players to make a contribution whatever their age.

Siddal MastersĀ  had two players selected for the very first Masters international game in England when Paul Sutcliffe and Paul Field were selected to play against the touring Australian side at Leigh East.

Many former Siddal players pulled on a shirt just one more time to play Masters including Mick Scott, Carl Gregg, Tony Sheard. Stuart Downey, Chris Davidson and even Fuggie! The team has played in every Masters season and in 2025 continues to flourish.

The oldest player to play for Siddal Masters is Brian Jackson who is 79 years young and will get his light blue shorts later in 2025 when he reaches his 80th birthday!

There have been several Siddal Masters players who have played international Masters Rugby League. Paul Sutcliffe and Paul Field went on tour to Australia in 2009 together with Joe Nolan, Steve Donkersley and Richard Oates. Pat Moore (2012) against Australia, Vernon McGinness (2010) Stuart Downey (2016) and Jason Greenwood-McDonald (2018) have all played against Australia.
