Calder Valley Dream Team
With the idea to combine the 20thAnnual Presentation Dinner with a celebration of Calder Valley’s history was well received by all concerned at the club. It was suggested by Paul Field that there could be a “Dream Team” created as part of that celebration. Deciding on how the Dream Team should be chosen was a matter for long debate. Finally, the Calder Valley committee asked Paul Field, as the only player to have been at the club for every season, to choose his 17 from all the Calder Valley teams he had played in. Not an easy task!!
At the Presentation Night, the candidates for each position were announced together with the winner. Paul decided that his team would be for an away match and he could therefore choose an 18th man. The Calder Valley Dream Team was announced…

Andrew Binns could not be at the Presentation Night as he was then Chairman of Park Amateurs who were holding their Presentation Night at the same time. So, Paul Field and Dave Stafford set of with his trophy and gate crashed the Park Amateurs event and announced that Andy was selected as one of the Calder Valley Dream and on the wing!
As the Calder Valley Presentation night came to a conclusion, the co-founders of Calder Valley, Paul Shaw and Billy White presented Paul Field with a display case containing a rugby ball signed by every member of the Dream Team.
