Halifax Championship

Ovenden’s success was also reflected in their victories in the Halifax Championship.

From the very first season of the club, Ovenden were competitive throughout their existence. They won their first Halifax Championship way back in the 1947-48 at Thrum Hall with their final victory coming in 2004 when Illingworth were defeated at Halifax RFC’s ground.

The two wins in 1994 and 1995 were victories to be savoured as they came at Thrum Hall over rivals Park Amateurs who had beaten Ovenden in the 1990 final and were then runners up in the next 6 finals.
