The New Century

Todmorden entered the new century in positive mood having reach their first Halifax Cup Final. They continued to be play in the Pennine Division 2 and played some great Rugby League.

Indeed, in the 2002-03 season they were very successful from their new base at the Hope & Anchor winning Division 2 and earning promotion to the Pennine League Division 1.

Coach John McGrath, a player since 1983 and coach for the previous 5 years, announced his retirement due to family commitments. While John was away on holiday, a players’ meeting at training resulted in the club deciding to fold. Most players went to join Littleborough who were struggling for players: many of the players came from Littleborough. Dave Cook, who had been played from the age of 12, posted later that

After the club folded, eight of us went and played for Littleborough for the next few years. Playing Rugby for Tod was the best days of my life and I love getting out the scrap book out to show my kids
