Referee Assessments

Both BARLA  and the Pennine League had referee assessment forms for both clubs to complete and submit after every game. Teams were, however, often influenced in their assessment by the result of the game so the views expressed could be very, very subjective. One game led to  the two differing referee assessments: one being 32 out of 50 points and the other being 49 out of 50! The range of scores on the forms ranged to 12/50 to 50/50!

Referees were sent copies of all the reports.

There are all shades of comments and opinions expressed in the reports.

Overall, the ref had a good game. No fuss, just let game flow.”

The referee “although not having his best game was adequate and consistently fair for both sides. I have no complaints.”

“A good performance by the referee who had a good feel for the game and controlled the players well.”

“He seemed to have a lack of interest.”

“The referee is a big, brown trout.”

The referee “refereed efficiently, knowledgably and intelligently, making a valuable contribution to the game.”
